A successful CNC design starts with knowing how it will be made. At De Firma CNC in Utrecht, we combine design with practical CNC machining experience gained since 2016. We create vector cutting patterns for furniture, products and camper interiors, taking the production process into account from the first drawing.

That experience helps us design parts that can be machined efficiently, fit together correctly and are practical to assemble.

CNC expertise in every detail

A drawing can look complete on screen while still needing adjustments for production. Cutter diameter, internal corner radii, material thickness and joint clearances all affect the finished result.

Because we design and machine parts ourselves, we account for these details early. We consider:

• Internal corners and dogbones: allowing square mating parts to fit into corners made with a round cutter.
• Joints and clearances: adapting tabs, slots and finger joints to the material and required fit.
• Material thickness: accounting for thickness variation where it affects connections and assembly.
• Cutter access and feature size: checking whether holes, pockets and narrow cutouts can be machined with suitable tools.
• Part strength: considering narrow sections, edge distances and material properties.
• Sheet layout: designing with available sheet sizes and efficient material use in mind.

The result is a cutting pattern developed around real production conditions, helping reduce avoidable revisions and fitting work.

Furniture and product design

We develop CNC vector patterns for cabinets, tables, shelving, displays and custom products. From a single prototype to repeatable components, we work out how each part will be cut, connected and assembled.

Outer contours, pockets, holes and joints are designed as part of one coordinated set of components. Our production knowledge helps us make informed choices about construction, machining detail and material use.

Camper furniture designed to fit

Camper interiors require careful use of space and a practical approach to weight, strength and accessibility. We design cutting patterns for camper boxes, bed platforms, kitchen units, drawers and modular storage.

We translate your layout into individual parts, considering panel connections, assembly order and access to storage. CNC-specific details are incorporated into the design, including suitable corner reliefs and clearances for interlocking components.

From your idea to CNC production

Send us a sketch, reference image or existing drawing, together with your dimensions and requirements. We assess the design from a production perspective and develop the vector patterns around the chosen material and construction method.

We can also machine the parts in our Utrecht workshop. This direct connection between drawing and production allows us to check critical details and, where needed, test a joint or prototype before producing the complete set.
